The following was received from the recreation manager at Whinlatter:-

" ... we have resubmitted a vastly scaled down scheme to the LDNPA for their approval to develop a 19km red mountain bike trail here at Whinlatter along with the associated bike hire facilities and a Go Ape course to be developed around the Visitor Centre. We decided from an early stage to do all the work in house rather than pay consultants to help us for the simple reason of the budget restrictions that we are suffering and the fact
that a lot of the information was already to hand.

Like last time the planners are comfortable with the development side of things but there is still some work to do on traffic generation through Braithwaite that I am working on at the moment.

Funding has also been achieved along with the appointment of a bike hire franchisee, sponsor and trail builder. So we await the planning decision then onwards and upwards as they say."
