Official statement

In light of the current financial constraints the Forestry Commission is facing we are currently working up a new planning proposal to provide mountain biking facilities at Whinlatter. The new scheme will offer a more sustainable option in terms of the value of our match funding towards the development of the trails and also our maintenance commitments once the development has been completed. Another key part of this process has been the need to overcome the limited options we face in terms of the access constraints.

It is hoped that this revised proposal will appease the concerns that have been raised whilst providing a facility that will allow safe, segregated and sustainable mountain biking in the forest.
